In García Lorca’s modern classic, an authoritarian mother exercises her ruthless power over her family, until the desire for freedom challenges and confronts her authority. A revealing look at the hypocrisy and deception that corrupt human relationships.
En este clásico moderno de García Lorca, una madre autoritaria ejerce un poder tiránico sobre su familia, hasta que el deseo de libertad reta su autoridad. Una visión reveladora sobre la hipocresía y la decepción que corrompen las relaciones humanas.

The House of Bernarda Alba at GALA Hispanic Theatre
Federico García Lorca’s THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA at GALA Hispanic Theatre is both timely and timeless. Written to capture feelings of isolation in an authoritarian society, the theatre’s production builds on what came before and what is seen today.

Danisarte is honored to present a timely new work in New York City: A Two-Part Press Conference Drama – Sofía: A Forgotten Child of the Border by Rodolfo Alvarado.
This powerful two-part play amplifies voices silenced by the U.S. family separation policy. In Part One, the audience witnesses a quiet, emotionally charged interview between three characters. In Part Two, the narrative shifts into a gripping press conference, where the truth is confronted in public view. Through the stories of Javier, a Mexican father, and Amalia, a Latina intake clerk, the piece blends art and testimony to confront one of today’s most urgent humanitarian crises—honoring the countless forgotten children represented by Sofía.

Undesirable Secrets is a powerful solo play written and performed by Rodolfo Alvarado, based on the extraordinary true story of Anthony Acevedo—a Mexican American WWII medic and the first U.S. soldier to register as a Holocaust survivor. In 1945, Anthony was among 350 American GIs secretly sent to Berga, a Nazi slave labor camp. Upon returning home, he and his fellow soldiers were ordered by the U.S. Army to remain silent. Anthony obeyed—for 63 years.
Directed by Bill Doll and developed in collaboration with Pete Kuzov, the play is a poignant examination of trauma, memory, and the moral courage it takes to finally speak the truth.
